Speaking Volumes was created for an exhibition of installations titled Land Marks, at Spaces gallery in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a contemplative, fallow garden of early, empty kozo-fiber bookworks, mounds of shed book pages and rusted books; bits of found text and musical notations were strategically placed throughout. It was a bit of a risk because almost everything was below eye level, but I was pleased to see people sitting on the floor or the nearby bench to read, observe, or quietly absorb, as one might do in a real garden.
Speaking Volumes was dedicated to an artist, writer and friend, the late Wayne Draznin.
